THE UNREVEALED GRAND CANYON OF INDIA...!!

Updated: May 7, 2021

"Once in a while it really hits people that they don't have to experience the world in the way they have been told to. The goal is to die with memories not dreams..!!"

You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning and you're excited for the day? The horizon leans forward offering you space to place new steps of change and you become greedy for new experiences, new sights & adventures.

Day 1: 13th April,2019

We started from Bangalore sharp at around 6:45 am. Moving on towards the airport NH43 route we reached "The Indian Parantha Company" and hogged our breakfast at around 8:30 am.

After finishing our morning meal we left for our first destination. - THE BELUM CAVES

Arrived at "The Belum Caves" in the afternoon sharp at 1:45 pm.

BELUM CAVES, located in the vicinity of Andhra Pradesh, has a length of 3229 meters,

makes it India's longest and second largest natural cave.

The tourists are charged with an entry fee of INR 80/- per head. The entrance looks like a pit cave with metal staircases and after descending the stairs the caves become horizontal.

Also these are air-conditioned caves with different pathways lighted up with dazzling colors.

There is a giant Lord Buddha's statue near

the Belum Caves. The area of the cave is known as the "meditation hall" was used by Buddhist Monks.

There are not much places nearby where one can find a restaurant or eating joint. It is advisable to carry a water bottle when visiting the caves since it gets very hot and humid at certain sections.

We departed from Belum Caves at around 3:00 pm and in an hour or so reached our resort.

Gandikota's - Haritha Resort which is 60kms from Belum is a government resort. It is advised to pre-book the resort as rooms and even the food- menu options are limited. Moreover the internet connectivity was an issue though they provided the wifi but it was too slow.

The hotel owner do have contacts for providing camping arrangements and other activities like rappelling, boating, tent-stay etc.

Departed from the Hotel at around 5:40 pm to Gandikota Viewpoint which was 800m from our hotel.

Spent few hours at the view point appreciating the beautiful sunset, the

mesmerizing sights and

capturing the snaps of the place.

Arrived back at the hotel at around 6:45 pm and sat on our room's terrace and chit-chatted for sometime. Finished our dinner at 9:30 pm and dozed off for the day.

Day 2: 14th April,2019

Early morning around 6:30am we started for our second destination.

THE GANDIKOTA HILLS - a gorge situated on the banks of Penna River in Andhra Pradesh and also known as Grand Canyon Of India.

One prime spot near the hills is the Gandikota Fort, a 13th century red sand stone structure.

While it is amazing, the hike to this spot is not an easy one with treacherous rocky terrain throughout.

But once you reach the summit and see the beautiful views of the surrounding hills, forests, gorge and Penna river, you will know that it was worth it.

And then we headed towards Bangalore at around 1:30 pm with lot of experiences and memories of the trip because in the end, "The Journey is best measured in Friends rather than Miles." 😉😉

Here are the route details of the trip:

Route 1: Depart from Bangalore at 6:45 am and head towards Belum Caves via NH43.

Route 2: Depart from Belum Caves at 3:00pm and reach the Gandikota's Haritha Resort.

Route 3: Depart from Haritha Resort at 1:30pm and reach back to Bangalore.
